Kirk Douglas offers most of $61M fortune to charity, leaving nothing for son Michael

Kirk Douglas, who handed away earlier this month at age 103, selected charity over his son Michael when deciding how one can divide up his $61 million fortune.

Douglas wished $50 million to be given away to numerous charities by means of the Douglas Basis, according to the Mirror. Amongst these getting a bequest is a scholarship program at his alma mater St. Lawrence College, Sinai Temple in Los Angeles, Culver Metropolis’s Kirk Douglas Theatre and Kids’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Michael Douglas, a well-known actor in his personal proper who has been estimated to be value $300 million, will not be one of many beneficiaries, the Mirror studies.

“To the world he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of flicks who lived effectively into his golden years, a humanitarian whose dedication to justice and the causes he believed in set an ordinary for all of us to aspire to,” the youthful Douglas wrote after his father’s loss of life on Feb. 5.

Kirk Douglas is survived by his spouse of 65 years (married Could 29, 1954) Anne Buydens, their son Peter Douglas, two sons from his first marriage — Michael and Joel Douglas — and 7 grandchildren.

As his movie profession waned within the 1980s — and his son’s profession took off — Douglas centered on philanthropy, charity work, and his function as goodwill ambassador for the US State Division, a submit he has held since 1963.

He and his spouse Anne based the Douglas Basis in 1964.
