Canadian city of Asbestos, Quebec, desires to alter poisonous title

The Canadian city of Asbestos is attempting to shed its poisonous affiliation and rebrand itself after metropolis officers stated the title, linked to the once-popular constructing insulation materials has value the town outdoors investments.

“There’s actually a detrimental notion round asbestos,” Mayor Hugues Grimard advised the CBC. “We have now misplaced companies that do not wish to set up themselves right here due to the title.”

The city thrived for many years on asbestos mining and product manufacturing and its asbestos mine was as soon as the single-largest supply of the product on the planet.  Asbestos was as soon as the primary go-to materials for insulating buildings.
