A Guatemalan girl arrested Tuesday for illegally re-entering the U.S. had beforehand been deported after serving eight years in jail for inflicting a 2008 faculty bus crash that killed 4 kids in Minnesota.
Olga Franco del Cid, 35, was taken into custody Tuesday at her house in Inver Grove Heights after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers obtained a tip she had returned to Minnesota.
“It appeared she was making an attempt to maneuver residences shortly,” ICE Deputy Discipline Workplace Director Shawn Byers advised FOX9 Minneapolis. “So, we consider she might have been tipped off that we had been on the lookout for her and making an attempt to flee however that is all speculative at this level.”
Franco del Cid was convicted of killing 4 kids in a faculty bus after the minivan she was driving ran a cease register February 2008. She was within the nation illegally and had claimed her boyfriend was driving.
She served eight years in state jail and was deported in 2016 following her launch.
ICE officers mentioned it was unclear how lengthy she had been dwelling within the U.S. earlier than Tuesday’s arrest.
Franco del Cid remained in ICE custody Thursday and will withstand 20 years in federal jail for re-entering the U.S., Minnesota’s Star Tribune reported.
